Each of the different ribbon variations.Seems Red is for Honorable Opponent and Green is for Teamwork. |
Continue reading for a more in depth look at how you can pick them up and what they look like in game.
So after you hit a certain number ( which I'll talk about at the bottom of the post ) of honors in a specific category, a snappy animation of a Crest of Honor will play for you.
After one of these announcements, you will display the appropriate ribbon during the loading screen and during champion select.
The first three ribbons, the ones you would receive from your team mates, are only visible to you and you allies.
The Honorable Opponent ribbon, however, is only visible to your enemies.
Returning to how you actually get the darn things, the best I can do is that we aren't 100% sure.
Crs Elementz was the first player, that I know of at least, to get Honorable Opponent ribbon and he got it after a being honored for "Honorable Opponent" 10 times. Other people are reporting they got the animation for Honorable Opponent, which seems to be the easiest to obtain, after 13 or 14 specific honors. Estimations for the Teamwork badge have varied from 13 to 17 appropriate honors, so there is definitely some variance.
The whole thing is still cloaked in a nice thick cloud of mystery. From the above, we know they don't come after a flat number. A straight percentage of games player to games honored doesn't really make TOO much sense either. I think the safest bet is to assume Honor just has a fancy formula working behind the scenes, something that gives a weighted value to Honor received based on who you got it from ( referencing Lyte talking about friend's honor being less valuable than strangers ) and maybe other factors like how much honor that person dishes out, how much you give, how many games you've played since the honor system started, etc.
If I find out some more concrete info, I'll certainly update you guys on it though.
P.S: <3 to redditors Waynechaw and Rionku for allowing me to use their images.
I wanna have one!!!! :)
ReplyDelete1St
Deletemadafockazzzz!!!!!!!!
lol
DeleteAnd now will all flaming disapearr,I love u riot ;3
ReplyDeleteSome people just want it for the visual appeal and then there are people that are genuinely nice and such
DeleteDoesn't matter, people that want it for the visual appeal act nice to get honor. I played a few games and there was no one saying "fuck you anivia, im darius, i need blue" or "omg my team are retards"
DeleteA new era of 'I'll honor you if you honor me' will now start.
Deletethey wont flame but you are still a feeder
DeleteHonor system is a failure.
DeleteCan someone leash blue?
Will you honor me?
EVERY DAMN GAME NOW
I gotta bribe people to do their jobs now? Ive been a jungler for 3 years have reliably received leashes from pub teamates since season 1, and now they expect compensation for something that has been a common curdacy for 2 years. I whish you could report people for honor whoreing.
You can. If I read correctly, it's under the "Spamming" title for now...
DeleteThey need a Tribunal for overly good players to stop the whole "you honor me i honor you thing"
Deleteever since tribunal stopped giving ip though, no one does it any more. it's a lose lose.
DeleteEven if no one did the Tribunal, it doesn't mean no one gets banned anymore. The Tribunal was just a way for Riot to include the community in sorting through the mass of reports. If 75% (or something like that) of the community punished someone in the Tribunal, then it got flagged for review by CS or whoever does bans. It's the equivalent of voting a post up or down in a forums.
Delete>they wont flame but you are still a feeder
Deletesecretly they're going to report you anyway for feeding. Just suck up for some honor.
Flaming is already almost gone. Great job RIOT!
ReplyDeleteI have 14 damn friendly points. Where's my reward?
ReplyDeletenow a friendly person wouldn't be so angry. Riot knows your intentions and your incentives.
DeleteRe read that last chunk of the post, pretty much no one is sure ( I haven't seen a friendly yet ) but the system certainly isn't based on flat numbers.
DeleteRiot must good at looking for fakers, like you.
DeleteSeems strange though. I am generally a nice person in LoL and I try to just get people to keep calm and play. The angrier someone gets, the worse they play.
DeleteCurrently I am sitting on 10/8/26/16 and alas no ribbon (I don't play with anyone on my friends list and I generally only play in Pubs)
Yet my friend hit 10 teamwork today and got one. So strange :P
And i have 30 where's my reward? :O
DeleteMan i have 19 10 103 and 26 wheres my rewards? HUH?
DeleteI believe that the time it took you to get the honor has something to do with it,or how many games in a row you received honor.Any ideas about this?
ReplyDeleteI'll just play like normal, and have the same attitude. If you earn them, you earn them because you deserve them, that's the whole point of these awards. I want to know if someone has these badges, it's because they're actually what it says they are, not 'since I have them, I can be bad but not bad enough so anyone will report me'.
ReplyDeleteIs there anyway they can be revoked?
I think if you fail a tribunal you lose all honor points and have to start over once your ban expires
DeleteYep!If you get reported and banned then you go back to 0.
DeleteThere will be no white knighting.
DeleteIf you get reported (approved by the tribunal) u lose ur stacks, not obligated to get banned to lose it
ReplyDeleteI am sitting at 15 friendly and still have no badge, so I think the 13-17 friendly mentions is kinda accurate
ReplyDeleteSuddenly community becomes nice... :O
ReplyDeleteWhat is this black magic?!
Moobeat!! <3 We're almost there!! Let's skin it to win it!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI still haven't played a game since the honour system was implemented but I'm really excited to - sounds like it's actually having some effect!
ReplyDeleteI've played 5 matches since Honor was implemented and I've not seen any improvement at all - almost the opposite.
ReplyDelete"Please report this noob Skarner, then I will give you honor." That's how it works, guys. At least I assume my opponents laughed at it as much as I did.
I find that terrible. So bad. It makes me weep slightly. It's so absurd, I wonder if there's any way to minimize or prevent honour abuse.
DeleteThat's true, but if that Skarner is actually bad or afk half the game, then why wouldn't I report him? I don't want to play with such people.
Deletereport the person for spamming (which is what they want honor begging/spamming to be reported under). should put a stop to it.
DeleteI agree ppl are honor whoreing and abusing it. i wonder if the system can catch these things and how it actually works. I got 4-3-17-20 and got nuthin.
DeleteSo if we get less honor from friends, can't people just unfriend eachother, give honor and then re-friend eachother?
ReplyDeleteIts only a theory thats how it works, it may be based off a different metric entirely. At any rate, stuff like that could get you flagged for honor abuse.
DeleteHonestly, if you have friends than you deserve the honor from them I guess. I would not befriend a cheat...then Im honorable person :D
DeleteI'd suspect what actually occurs is that honouring people multiple times gives a rapidly diminishing effect.
Deleteits not only about friends, its about how much games did u play with them or how many times did u met them
DeleteCan we stack more of these ?
ReplyDeleteWhat if i have 15 of friendly and 15 of teamwork, how goes ?
I am also curious about this.
DeleteI am also curious about this.
ReplyDeleteI am also curious about this.
DeleteI concur with the above statements
DeleteAnd I am curious of the curiosity itself
Deletewhat are you all talking about? sorry for my curiosity
DeleteSorry to pop in unannounced. im just a little curious of what you guys are talking about.
DeleteU will never see this happen to dota.
ReplyDeleteppl are always friendly and dont need something like honor rewards or rewards for banning bad ppl. this is just ridiculous.
What are you talking about? There is a similar system in dota 2, and Riot doesn't give any reward for honor. And how something that makes bad players act nice so they can get a "reward" is something bad anyway?
DeleteNow buff Irelia, ty.
ReplyDeleteNerf eve pls, too stronk
DeleteIm sorry man, you mispelled "Make Irella viable again."
DeleteIts kind of sad this system gets exploided a lot.
ReplyDeleteEvery Streamer I see that streams with friends trade these honors like its nothing. So well its kind of saying nothing about the players. Some streamers arent really the nicest people in verbal talk during matches but still give themselves honor since they are friends and stream the whole day. :/
So well I dont give a lot about this new system
We could need this honor system at this blog. ^^
ReplyDeleteGood to see that the honor system is actually working, but i didnt think that we just needed 10-20 points to get the honorable opponent ribbon. was thinking about 100 points before I read this post.
Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of consistent honourable play over time, rather than a few honours here and a few honours there.
DeleteYeah, I think that would make more sense and would fit the idea behind it mich better. At least then the players really have to be humble and nice
DeleteNot working, literally every one in a match I had today were so caustic you might melt by looking at them.
ReplyDeleteHilariously the 2 nicest players at the end were me and one on the other team, we both used Cho'Gath. :P
FUS RO DAH! Cho'Gath: http://tnij.org/snnt
ReplyDeleteIs this out on live servers? Or just PBE so far?
ReplyDeletethe trick for thinking about honor isn't to think that it actually awards the most helpful/friendly/etc. players; it's thinking of it in terms of giving players something to lose if they're negative/unhelpful, but not so much so that they won't be hit by the Tribunal.
ReplyDeletelots of this game and its players play for competitive purposes and bragging rights, whether that's total number of wins or elo. so by giving these people a reason to compete in a positive manner-- by giving them another threshold to cross, an island to jump to, however you want to phrase it-- you remove a large amount of the negativity that characterizes the game and its community.
pretty ingenious, if you ask me.
I'm aware than in a time from here when almost everyone achieve Honor Ribbons at the selection screen if ther is someone who doesn't have a Ribbon on their team will just cancel the queue, hope i mistake about that... =S
ReplyDeletePersonally, I suspect that honor ribbons will work like ELO, the top % of players who have X honor will carry the ribbon on their profile. Thats at least what it sounded like to me with their mentions of "pillars of the community", i.e. the people supporting good play in the community.
DeleteI believe Orb Nien actually got Honorable Opponent before Elementz.
ReplyDeleteI have 15 Honorable Opponent...Where's my reward? :/
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for your answers,MooBeat...
ReplyDeleteHow much do i need to have those to have award??
ReplyDeleteI got my Honorable Ribbon about two days ago when I logged in that night. I only had 8 honorable points at the time. So I believe it varies even more than what you mentioned above. I have a decent amount in the other categories and haven't gotten a ribbon for it. Which leads me to believe Riot has people watching who gets them and awards them based on actual performance and dedication to making the game more enjoyable to play for both sides of the playing field. Otherwise good post, was a good read!
ReplyDeleteSorry same dude again. So the day honor was released I received my Ribbon. So I am REALLY not sure how one truly receives them >.<!
DeleteThanks for posting it.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to more detailed info.
this is sick :< have 21 for teamwork and still no ribon ;/
ReplyDelete21 Friendly, still no ribbon :/
ReplyDelete18 in honorable opponent and nothing
ReplyDeleteI have 31 Teamwork honor but still no ribon :p...
ReplyDelete60 team work still no ribon :'(
ReplyDelete9001 ribbons. I got nothing
ReplyDelete12:9:22:28, still nothing :\
ReplyDelete6/1/18/14 and nothing...
ReplyDeleteMy honors ar at 2/4/27/22 and no ribbon at all. this is crazy lol.
ReplyDeleteOne of the big problems I see is that they don't really count if you "trade" honors with someone else, but that means if I want the ribbon I will never honor someone because they might honor me back and it will just cancel out...
ReplyDeleteMwahahahaha I AM EVIL MAN
ReplyDeleteI have 59 teamworks and nothing 19 honor oponents and nothing...
ReplyDeletegot 61 for teamwork there is no teamwork ribbon
ReplyDeletei have 26/10/51/22 and still no ribbon ;/
ReplyDeleteI dont have nothing...my profile 20/43/27/20 and 10 friendslist. D:
ReplyDeleteHow many honorable opponent do we need for a ribbon?
ReplyDeleteGot my honorable opponent at around 15, i was like DAFUQ when the red screen thing popped up. Never noticed that it gives a banner. I have about 75 team honor things and i still haven't gotten the team ribbon, never traded honor :/
ReplyDeletei have 60team and 30honor so does that mean i have one?
ReplyDeleteI have 2 friendly and honorable opponent
ReplyDeleteHave 21/21/47/47 :D Ok, I have a Honorable Opponent but where is my Teamwork Opponent D:?
ReplyDeletei wonder if ribbons can be obtained only by honor from ranked games.
ReplyDeletei have over 300 honor ribons and still only have one badge. I have 99 team work 73 honorable opponent and yet i have helpfull badge with only 27.... wth broken systeme much
ReplyDeletei have 36 honorable oppenent where the is my reward ?! Riot! ......
ReplyDeletei have 30 honorable opponet and still have gotten nothing also have 24 teamwork still no fancy thing saying im honorable
ReplyDeletei have 83 Teamwork... and nothing...
ReplyDelete16 Honorable and 25 Teamwork... nothing. And I pretty much always play solo queue ranked, if that means anything.
ReplyDeleteNow i got 59 teamwork and 32 honorable and no badge.. WTF??
ReplyDeletei have 53 teamwork honor, 42 honorable opponent, and still only have a honorable opponent badge
ReplyDeletei have 172 teamwork still no ribbon
ReplyDeleteBut how much you need to get the ribbon ?
ReplyDeletei kno how u feel bro, i got 65 teamwork, still nothing
ReplyDeleteonce you get one ribbon you cant get anothe rone :3
ReplyDeleteIf u get teamwork'd by people you que with or by people that give out things often, its worth practically nothing. So thats how you can have a lot of teamwork's or honors and still not have any ribbons.
ReplyDeletezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz so booring all commands like "i have 106 teamworks still nothing" its because your friends gave you them so they r worth practically nothing if you really want a badge you jsut have to play good and get other people who you dont knwo to honour you
ReplyDelete100000000000000 depending on how much games you ahve played, depending on who honours you, and depending on wether Rot likes u or not
ReplyDeleteI think it really depends on who is honoring you. If a summoner consistently gives out honor to people then it is deemed not as valuable as if someone who rarely gives it out gives you honor.
ReplyDeleteI have 19/18/88/15 and still nothing :)) it is metter that when i was 6 lvl i was banned for 72 hours.. I was having connecting problems with my internet and i send a message in Riot to know about it... Thank you..!! :)
