Teams are now returning from IEM and the regular season continues, we're back at it again with This Week in eSports!

Most regions took a week off from their regular play this last week for Intel Extreme Masters Katowice! NA and EU LCS start back up this week at normal times!

Intel Extreme Masters: Katowice

IEM Katowice was this last week from March 2nd - March 6th. Eight teams battled it out in group stages before the top four moved on to the playoffs. The tournament had $100,000 total in prize money, with first place taking $50,000. 
SKT T1 took home first place with an undefeated record (7 - 0) through all of IEM.
Final Standings:

  • 1st - SKT T1
  • 2nd - Fnatic
  • 3rd/4th - Royal Never Give Up & TSM
  • 5th/6th - Ever & Qiao Gu Reapers
  • 7th/8th - Origen & CLG

EU:

  • Following last week's announcement, H2K has posted on their facebook that Forg1ven has been "granted a temporary deferment of military service in his home country of Greece."
  • Giants Gaming has made an announcement regarding Atom, betongJocke, and Adryh leaving the team. Smittyj,Wisdom, and S0NSTAR join the roster.

Riot

  • [REMINDER] Riot has announced the location for the 2016 World Championship, the 2016 Mid-Season Invitational, and the 2016 International Wildcard Invitational!
    • 2016 World Championship will be held across North America September 29th - October 29th
      • Group Stage: September 29-October 2 + October 6-9 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, CA
      • Quarterfinals: October 13-16 at The Chicago Theatre in Chicago, IL
      • Semifinals: October 21-22 at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY
      • Finals: October 29 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA
  • 2016 Mid-Season Invitational will be held in  Shanghai, China May 4th - 15th
  • 2016 International Wildcard Invitational will be held in Mexico April 16 - 23rd.
