2017 ranked season kicks off 

With patch 6.24 out to live servers, the 2017 ranked season has started!

As usual, players will need to do 10 placement matches in their ranked queue of choice (or both!) to jump into the fresh ladder. Between  December 7th at 16:00 PST and December 14th at 15:59 PST, you'll earn +50% extra IP in ranked Flex queues. If ranked isn't your thing, Champion Mastery chests have also reset and players will now be able to earn chests from scoring S- or higher on champions, one chest per champion per season.

Ranked Queues 

This year, climb the ladder in your choice of two competitive ranked queues on Summoner’s Rift: Solo/Duo and Flex. With independent ratings and different skills to master, climb to your peak in both queues to earn additional end-of-season rewards! 

With the introduction of Ranked Flex Twisted Treeline, queue up solo or as a group and carve your legacy in the altars of the Shadow Isles. 

Placements 

While the preseason was shorter this year than ever before, your 2017 ranked adventure will begin with a fresh set of ten placement matches in both Solo/Duo and Flex. Your preseason ratings influence where you’ll land, but most of you should expect to start your climb lower than where you finished last season. 

Champion Mastery Chests 

The start of a new season means a new chance to earn loot. Hit S- or higher on a champ, or queue with someone who does, to unlock a Hextech Chest. As in previous seasons, you can earn one chest per champ until the next reset. 

Replays 

Want to spread the word about your sweet penta? Feel like hitting the lab to analyse your jungle pathing? Just how long was the enemy team camping in the Baron pit? With the client update, you can download your replays in the post-game screen or your match history and clip highlights to share or review 

Flex IP Boost (even for solos!) 

We’re going to be launching Ranked Flex with a flat IP boost throughout the first week of the season. You’ll earn +50% extra IP in Ranked Flex between December 7 at 16:00 PST and December 14 at 15:59 PST. Whether you’re a solo warrior, a five-person clown fiesta, or anywhere in between, everyone will avail of the same IP bonus. 

Oh, and by the way: due to limitations with the way IP boosts are implemented, it will appear that solo players are not included here, but this is purely a display issue - you’ll still receive the +50% extra IP at the end of the game!

KateyKhaos on Heartseeker Quinn Feedback

KateyKhaos has posted a large response to feedback on the new Heartseeker Quinn, including several upcoming changes they will be making - adding tights, color changes, adjustments, and more.

"Update 

Hey everyone - 

We went through a bunch of your feedback, both on the PBE, live boards, Twitter, etc. I wanted to keep everyone in the loop in terms of what we'd like to change to accommodate address player feedback!

• We're adding tights - same color as the majority of her thigh high stockings (blue/purple), since she is in a skirt!
• We're hiding a bit more of her cleavage.
• We're darkening her color palette to be more in line with the other Heartseeker skins.
• We're looking to adjust her skirt to make it a bit longer/more appropriate, due to her base stance.
• We may puff up her hair (minor change) to make it a bit fuller.
• Adjusting her AAs to match the arrow shows on her crossbow (this was actually a bug, and the particles hadn't been updated yet). 

We really appreciate you all taking the time to leave detailed feedback. We do read through all of it, and because of you, we're able to adjust skins and really push them to be the best they can be. ^-^ Thanks again! <3"

Meddler Grab Bag - Poppy & Shyvana PBE context

Few posts from Meddler on recent Poppy & Shyvana PBE changes & the 6.24 Rylai's  changes.

"Few quick notes on Poppy: 

• The CC duration on the ult isn't changing (snap cast was always half the duration of the charged). Since we're specifying half damage for the snap cast however it seemed reasonable to call out the half CC as well (consistent message of how the quick version works).
• We'll be testing a few different options for hitting Poppy's resilience. Current plan is to try a shorter passive shield duration (3s most likely) next, since that reduces average resilience but in a way that allows both Poppy and her opponents to play around the change a bit.
• The CotC nerfs in 6.24 will assumedly affect Poppy somewhat. We think she's strong enough she'll need changes to her kit as well, we'll be watching the impact 6.24 has though of course in case the CotC nerf hits her harder than expected."

As for the 12/6 PBE change to remove W's 20% bonus damage to monsters,  Meddler shared:

"Quote:

Hey Meddler I have a post on the Shyvana W nerfs. If you don't want to read it ill give you a quick summary. 

1. Shyvana has only been "Strong" for 1 patch so far and I think you guys should let the dust settle before nerfing her
2. Shyvana has always traded early clears for early ganking potential. This nerf eradicates that in my opinion. 

A more detailed description is on my post and there is currently a small group discussion their ideas. I was wondering if you could clear some things up with context?

We're quite confident Shyvana's too strong at this point. We've got a while till 7.1 goes out, so that could potentially change. At present though we need to be figuring out appropriate nerfs however, the 6.23 changes added substantial power to her. Early clear power's still intended to be a strength of hers however, we're looking to reduce that not remove it."

Meddler also reiterated they would be keeping an eye on several mages flowing the 6.24 Rylai's Crystal Scepter changes:

"We'll be assessing Vlad, Karthus, Aurelion Sol, Morde, Taliyah, Cass, Singed, Brand, Zyra, Azir, Elise, Rumble, Heimer, Kennen and any other Rylai's user I'm not immediately thinking of after the change is actually out and we've seen what impact has actually happened."
