PAX Prime starts this weekend August 31st until September 2nd. |
What an exciting weekend we have ahead and such a massive weekend for our North American pro teams and their future in League of Legends eSports. This tournament decides who will make it to the Season 2 championships in Los Angeles on October 13th. The top 3 teams at PAX Prime will move on. It also decides who will have the awesome opportunity of being one of the first pro teams in the Season 3 Championship Series! Let's get down to business and see exactly how this tournament is going to play out.
The tournament at PAX Prime will be a best of 3, single elimination tournament. The teams will be battling it out for a $150,000 prize pool! It will be casted by Steve "RiotJaws" Jaworski, Josh "RiotJatt" Leesman, and none other than the favourite casting duo David "Phreak" Turley and Rivington "RivingtonThe3rd" Bisland. This tournament will be broadcasted on this website in free HD for everyone to enjoy! Now that we've covered the basics, let's talk about exactly who is playing, who they're playing against, and when. I've got the bracket here for you, dates and time are underneath each match:
All of this is in anticipation for none other than the aforementioned Season 2 Championships! If you want to get pumped up for it, I recommend watching this great video put out by Riot below:

Now, I know everyone is just as stoked as I am for PAX Prime this weekend, so I've found something great for everyone to consider! One Nation Of Gamers is hosting tournament watching and socializing parties all over the USA for you! It would be a great time to watch the tournament with other people that know about the game, instead of alone at home at your computer. If you're into that kind of stuff of course! So, everyone should head over to the Facebook post about it to see if there is a Pubstomp being held in your area. If there isn't don't panic!! ONOG has stated that they will open more Pubstomps in areas that are a popular request. So if you want one in your area, be sure to like them and get all of your friends to as well. Who knows, maybe soon there will be a listing in your city!
So everyone, get ready! Because this is going to be an awesome weekend in eSports! I can't wait to see who I'm going to be cheering on at the Season 2 championships in October.
first
ReplyDeleteSo let me see if i got this straight... only the winner of PAX will be able to fight for the season 2 belt? Against other regional winners?
ReplyDeleteI should have worded that differently. It's the top 3 teams. I'll fix it
DeleteOh, sweet... hope TSM, CLG and Dignitas make it.
DeleteWould be really disappointed if CLG doesn't make it after going MIA for so long.
maybe curse?
ReplyDelete"socializing parties"
ReplyDeleteLeague drunkfest? Yespls.
I know right? Let's go.
DeleteI'm going to be at one of those pubstomps, hopefully XD.
ReplyDeleteThe NA regionals are going to be far less competative than the EUROs and far less entertaining to watch.
ReplyDeleteThe NA style of play is mundane and unoriginal in relation to champions used, style of gameplay and stratergy (or lack of).
MORE ARAM!!!
ReplyDeleteand Matchfixing!
DeleteThe only people who like random are the noobs who are sub 1800 elo
DeleteNo offense, I am a fan of this website and I come here often to check the news, however everyday when I come here I see these news about tournaments, dude, no one gives a shit about these tournaments, these so called "pro" gamers should earn their money in a honest way and you should present your viewers with more interesting news like for example PBE content (Syndra, etc)instead of filling in soace with news no one cares about.
ReplyDeleteA site can only grow if it's fan base develops. More content means more people visiting the site, which means the site can grow and be more successful.
DeleteYou, specifically, may not appreciate these eSports posts but a lot of people do and it attracts more people to the site. They also really help to provide the site with new content when "normal" news is no where to be found.
Besides, the competitive scene has a direct impact on League of Legends. Be it balance, success of the game as a whole, or whatever, this sort of stuff matters.
Plenty of people care about tournaments! =)
DeleteAnd Moobeat can only put up news about PBE updates etc. when those things have actually happened. The alternative to you checking this website every day and finding only tournament news is you checking this website every day and finding no news at all!
Also, along with what Moobeat said, if you don't want to read about tournaments and stuff there are buttons at the top of the page to filter what content you look at. If you prefer PBE content hit that button and all of my eSports articles will disappear so you don't even have to see them! It's a win/win situation.
DeleteSo far we've gotten good feedback about expanding the site and adding in this section. I'm really sorry you don't like it but generalizing that no one cares about tournaments is not true. Watch that video I posted up there. According to Riot more people tune in to League of Legends tournaments than watch Baseball on ESPN! So some people care!
I think the tourny info is great. It's a huge reason why I come here.
Delete"...and none other than the favourite casting duo David "Phreak" Turley and Rivington "RivingtonThe3rd" Bisland." Who likes Phreak and Rivington? Every live stream of every tournament I've ever seen has the chat log filled with people complaining about how they don't like these 2 or any Riot caster for that matter. I don't understand why they don't hire better casters, they can pay players to pay, toss some of that cash at some new casters. South Koreans make the best ShoutCasters.
ReplyDeletePeople just like them because they have the most ridiculous bromance. Haha
DeleteMother of God, I never noticed. I usually try my best to ignore them when watching. I want the guys who ShoutCasted the TSM Invitational casting all LoL events. I cant remember their names but they were hilarious.
DeleteKobe24 and Wombat are their names if I remember properly.
DeleteThis man knows his casters! I liked them too they did well and were hilarious!
DeleteThey even kept me entertained during breaks, something the Riot casters need to work on. Just Kobe and Wombat reading comments was enough to keep me watching. Not just commercials every 5 seconds. Man they were funny.
DeleteSure.
