Now that we've had a little bit of time to form an opinion on our newest Dark Sovereign, I think some of you might be delighted to hear Phreak mention that Riot is planning on giving Syndra a bit of a buff. Responding to a fan idea that her orbs deal damage an enemy passes through them, he says:
"Really doesn't make sense for the champion, IMO. She's a long-range mage. Saying, "Actually bro, the best way to maximize your damage is to walk into melee range" doesn't make sense for this champion. Compare to someone like Morgana who has a lot of long-range gameplay, but supports her close range ultimate with Black Shield.
That said, we do recognize that Syndra is weak and we plan to buff her."
I know we are all eagerly awaiting the graphical update ( new default model, new animations and particles, and updated skins ) for Soraka, so I figured I'd drop off the latest post about it from ricklessabandon. He says:
"....we intend to put Soraka's visual update through the typical release process very soon. :3"While it's not new per say, it's nice to see a "very" tacked on to that soon. Who else is ready for Soraka's new look and a peek at the new skin that is going to come with it??

It is pretty egregious that Soraka only has two skins despite being an Alpha-stage champ. And Eve has three skins, while Soraka has two. Clearly, Soraka needs more love.

DeletePfffahahahaha. Good one. Even when hitting with all her abilitys Syndras dmg is pathetic compared to Orianna. Not to mention that Ori has much more utility and survivability.
Doubt it's going to be damage buffs, more like skill interaction improvements, like how clunky her grab/ throw is- or her scattered orbs missing stuns that should have landed. It's would be great if her passive boosted her skills for every rank in them till they reach the current lvl 5 bonuses.

That said she's not a usual ap carry let alone a burst mage. and being able to 1shot a ad carry at 20min is pretty illusionary - What do you lane against, Ashe with 5lvls less than you? You CAN dish out damage with Syndra. It's not really easy and requires a different itembuild than usual ap chars but it's not like all her abilities deal 1 dmg. Jeez...

Happy that they finally noticed that Syndra sucks. Although Syndra is so broken that a few fixes won't help. I would prefer a refund, sadly I already used mine before.

She needs a massive amount more effort to get the same degree of strength. So if you play her really well, you can stay on par, but you definitely put way more effort. The margin for error playing syndra is far higher than other mids.
For instance, Annie. She's strong and she's unbelievably easy to land her spells with. There's no real chaining, the only thing to make her technical is her stun, and even that's pretty simple.
Syndra's got great abilities and she's strong enough, but they all require skillshots and proper combos to deal full damage. It's just not the same.
Her design mechanics make her more fun for sure, more skill required, but the punishment is more room for error.
I hope the buffs won't take away the skill barrier, because honestly, that's what i like most about the new champions. They require different playstyles from the traditional champions.
^ Someone that understands. Thank you. Usability and a bit more rewarding for skill chaining would be all she needs. No hard number tweaks neccessary there.

One thing i would like to see is her E updated, leave the current rang for base knock back and damage but add a 2nd part that has same rang as here Q that will no do anything other then knock back orbs
I tottally agree with Hex but for how that added effort I feel she can bring even more to the table than say, Annie. Most mages like Annie its trade blows and recover from downfalls later with no HUGE reprehensions BUT with Syndra once she starts rolling she seems to exploit mistakes very easily and then Excel later. She is strongest mid game but later she can have the potential to carry. She can bring more to a team than Annie and this is why I think that; 1 not only can she burst a vital Target down she can either stun most of them or knock them away. So this allows her to be able to get her team through the tanks to the dmg. 2 Though she is extremely slow she does bring a lot of escapablity with a dmging slow, a knock back, and if played right and with decent cd you can eventually throw a second knockback in or a stun in under 10seconds and its all AoE. 3 the AoE, Annies AoE is either an ult or in practile melee range, of course ziggs is better with the AoE but utlity wise Syndra is very strong here. And 4 her lane control can really supress other Nids ablity to farm and will hold the enemy back. So yea that's my thoughts

ReplyDeleteI love how phreak completely missed the point of that suggestion. They weren't talking about the balls that circle her, they were taking about the ones placed by her q. It would make sense if champs took damage by walking through a ball that she has already placed. Not full damage of course, but something. As it is, once the ball is on the field you just have to avoid having it in a direct line between you and her.

So I honestly don't know why there was a poll, and if the poll is actually valid, she WILL look more human since that option received the most votes. DeleteWith her "scatter the weak" they should show you the line the ball would move in as you set up your E and it would show you where it would go dependent on your positioning.... Kinda like how LULU's q works except without the 2 line bikes but the one line nuke and an AoE

ReplyDeleteThe only buff i'd like on Syndra is that her orbs grant vision in bushes. I don't play ranked, but in normals i managed to lose 2 games out of 12 and those were loses because of afkers.

ReplyDeleteBoost AP ratios by lot. Remake W to make Vacuum like Dark Seer had in Dota, that pulls Orbs and Minions. Maybe even champions.
E should get little more range so you could aim better with it. Also some line perhaps to show possible flight road when shooting Orbs.
R needs bit more rage and Orbs need to last a bit longer.
These and I wont regret my purchase.
Btw I couldn't care shit about Soraka visual update but I guess I wouldn't mind either.
