As a few of you might already know, Riot is
releasing a limited Championship Riven skin in celebration of the upcoming
Season Two World Championships. The Skin will be
available in the shop starting October 14th and remain available for purchase (price is still unknown) until
October 22nd, at which point she will be removed from the store and become permanently unavailable.

If you are feeling particularly lucky, you might be interested to hear about Riot's "
#IAMRIVEN Twitter Sweepstakes". Here are the contest rules for anyone who wants to enter.
"So we heard you like Riven and the Season Two World Championship, so
we’ve put Riven in your Season Two World Championship so you can Riven
while you Championship. I’m just kidding. But seriously, Summoners. If
you’re watching the World Championship from home this weekend and want a
chance to win the awesome Championship Riven skin, follow these simple
steps:
- Follow @LeagueofLegends on Twitter
- Take a picture of yourself (and your buddies, siblings, parents,
pets if you’d like) posing like Riven in her Championship skin splash
art
- Tweet your photo to @LeagueofLegends and include the hashtag #IAMRIVEN
- You’ve successfully entered the sweepstakes!
Over the course of the next three days we’ll be collecting your submission via @LeagueofLegends.
At the end of each day, we’ll select three winners at random and send
the winners a direct message containing a code for Championship Riven.
To qualify for the sweepstakes, at least one person in the photo must be
dramatically striking Riven’s pose from her Championship skin splash
art. Additionally, your Twitter account must be following @LeagueofLegends. The sweepstakes will run from October 12 through October14, so go get your camera before it’s too late."
Finally, here are
some details about how you can get the
FREE Championship Riven Summoner Icon during
tomorrow's World Championship games.
"Summoners,
I’d like to share with you details on the World Finals – specifically
our on-stream summoner icon giveaway as well as a surprise event leading
off the broadcast on Saturday, October 13.
During the World Finals, we will show a code on stream that can be used
to claim a summoner icon inspired by the Season 2 Championship Riven
skin. You will have approximately 24 hours after the show to claim your
icon. Here is how you claim it:
- Go to our redemption page.
- Submit your username, summoner name, server region and the stream code.
- Your icon will be unlocked during the week following the World Championship!
Also, I’m excited to say that at 5pm Pacific on Saturday October 13,
we’ll start the broadcast with a showmatch featuring some featuring some
of the top professional players that have competed in the World
Championship. Tune in at 5pm on www.leagueoflegends.com to see your favorite players compete on the Fields of Justice one last time."

I'll be celebrating on my birthday party at the same time of the finals and won't be able to watch.
When I saw 5pm PST i converted it to my time zone and I realised its 3am in the morning....I can stay up until 1am but 3....then I read Moobeat with link the code for those who miss it. Thank you Moobeat. I'm relieved.

DeleteThis is kinda stupid setup for the icon... They gave everyone in season 1 who had 10 wins in normal a free Judgement Kayle skin but for this you have to watch the tournament, enter your user name, summoner name, and the code on a website to just get an icon... why couldnt they just give it to everyone? Why go through all this trouble?
ReplyDeleteBecause they apparently need to give people a reason to tune into the championship final. Personally I think it's depressing to think that Riot is releasing a free icon and making us pay for the skin... just goes to show you how much Riot has changed. To anyone who is thinking that I'm talking rubbish please understand this: Riot gave people Judgement Kayle as a reward for playing at least 10 matchmade games... but Championship Riven you have to buy.
DeleteThe only good thing is that the Riven skin is limited edition (something I thought Riot stopped doing) so as long as it is not overpriced then it is still worth it. But it is still a shame that Riot is so obsessed with money that they won't release a free skin as a reward to their loyal playerbase. I guess you can't have everything.

Delete^^ Lol, nah kid. They're not money hungry because they are releasing a limited time skin to commemorate the Season 2 World Championships. It's just that you kids have become so spoiled and self-entitled that you think that anything that isn't free is "money hungry".
DeleteBesides, don't try and put the player base on a pedastal. "Loyal" playerbase, what a joke, this fanbase is anything but loyal. Loyal to themselves maybe, but most of them don't take this game seriously, and don't respect Riot for creating it.

ReplyDeleteI can't find any red in any forum stating that this is a limited skin. Pretty sure it's just a legacy. If anyone can prove me wrong though feel free to post proof.
The original announcement said it would be available for the week following the championship match and then it will be "permanently unavailable." If that doesn't prove its limited and not legendary I don't know what does.
