"As we venture deeper into the mysterious mists of the Shadow Isles, summoner icons are taking on some dreadful new facades. In celebration of the upcoming patch, we’ll be offering some sinister new summoner icons when you purchase RP. There are five icons to collect based on the total RP you purchase between October 1 and November 13. Your new summoner icons will be unleashed after the release of the Shadow Isles patch to haunt your profile forevermore.
Here’s the breakdown:
Tier 1 (any RP amount): Spiteful Specter
Tier 2 (1,000+ RP): Baleful Grasp plus Tier 1
Tier 3 (2,500+ RP): Death Mask plus Tiers 1-2
Tier 4 (5,000+ RP): Deadfall Treant plus Tiers 1-3
Tier 5 (10,000+ RP): Vengeful Wraith plus Tiers 1-4
If you purchase RP and meet a new tier after the patch, it’ll take about ten minutes after your transaction is processed before your new icons are available to use.
So treat yourself to some RP for a wicked Shadow Isles champion or skin, and trick opponents with your freaky new summoner face!"

It's something that allows to be aesthetically pleasing (or horrifying if you're catching the holiday spirit) not something needed in the game or something that drastically increase your ability to own and such.
So yeah for the chance to get something out of loading RP that I can use year round, sure why not? 'Tis Legit.

ReplyDeleteAs someone who isn't a fan of EA and their cash grab DLC, I fail to see the comparison.
DeleteLoL is still free. You don't have to pay Riot a dime. They also don't have to give you minor cosmetic bonuses for spending money on their content. I have a friend who has spent literally nothing on this game, compared to me who has spent a fair bit thanks to a love of skin and champion sales.
All this is, is if you are spending money to get the new skins and such, you're getting a bonus. My account is sitting at like 137 RP anyway right now and I usually load it up 5k at a time so this is perfect for me. Maybe I will put a bit more into the account this round because of this, but that won't make me spend more: it just means I won't have to add any for a while (I'm fairly strict about not buying champs or skins at full price unless it is a new release skin, such as the upcoming Haunted Maokai)
Also, I think the Baleful Grasp is the best. So yeah, even if I don't spend more, I'll be happy to have that one.
I agree with the above post, i will most likely buy the $100 RP. I currently own all champions and will slowly buy all skins that are on sale and most importantly all the limited availability skins.

10k rp isnt too much money if looking upon the total amount I've purchased, But quite literally. I have everything I want for the moment, and enough IP to buy any champion that comes out as soon as it does, the 10k RP probably wont even be spent all the way through for me before another promotion comes out for more summoner icons. I quite literally can not see myself being able to spend all the RP before the next promotion.

DeleteI bought the $100 worth of RP in Sep (which was 17000 RP, crazy deal). Only had 7k worth of stuff to buy since then. I usually buy $50 worth of RP a month (that's my League budget) but I spent 2 months worth last month cause I wanted to take advantage of the deal. So I was pretty sad when they announced this promotion.

ReplyDeleteLook at the dates you purchased IP. If they are between Oct 1 to Nov 13 then they count towards this. Since sometimes people get confused as to when they actually bought it.
