"Hey Summoners! First off, let me introduce myself: I'm an animator here at Riot and one of my projects was to animate the dragon version of Pix for the Dragon Trainer Lulu skin. I wanted to take a few moments to explain some of our thought process behind making this skin happen.
Originally, this skin was going to be treated similarly to Lulu's other skins with the dragon version of Pix being a very simple character with only few utilitarian animations. However, as we further explored this version of Lulu, the team felt like we were missing an opportunity to breathe life into the character of Pix, which up until this point had a limited animation set. So, in our continuing mission to delight players and raise the quality of our skins, we took the time to really develop Pix into the charming and whimsical being that he was always meant to be. This included adding an entire new animation set to Pix, including attacks, emotes, run variants, and more. I tried to make this version of Pix a fitting companion for Lulu by appropriating some of the silly elements of Lulu's personality that make her so endearing.
This is the first time we’ve taken a secondary pet character in the game and really given it the full treatment. On top of that, the skin received an adorable new model and what are arguably some of the coolest particles in the game. Not only does this skin open up doors for similar treatment on future Lulu skins, but also provides insight into ways we could bring even more personality to other secondary "pet" characters in our game.
After all was said and done, we felt the value it brought to the characters of Lulu and Pix as a whole was above and beyond what players would expect from this skin. On behalf of the skins team, I hope you all enjoy the skin and all the hard work and love we put into it."

DeleteI agree. I just played with a guy on my team that used her and I gotta say, the dragon and particles are nice, but Lulu... from behind she looks like a giant Kidney Bean (or a huge poo if you think of it).

ReplyDeleteI actually really like the Pix, and might have paid the extra for it even. I just hate the ultimate being the default one though, that totally ruins the skin for me I feel. Wooden tree and dragons?!?

The skin is so not worth that amount of RP, & even if it was, I honestly do not like it.

ReplyDeleteI love the new LULU skin and i understand that they added more character to it but if they added a new 1 quote or a animation with the dragon it would be worth it. That what they did with mechakha and it was worth the 1350. but still love the skin but im going to wait til it goes on sale.

You know you overpriced it and now you're saying "because we tried very hard" when in reality, you recolored Lulu particles; gave pix a new look and a "roll" animation while running(extremely overlook-able).
No, that is not worth 15$. 15$ would be a new voiceover with new lines along with the skin.
If you were trying to breathe life; you wouldn't need an explanation attached because you know you put your soul into it.
Worth it because dragons.

And considering that this version of Pix is the thing I dislike about this skin, yeah, not paying extra for it. 975 and you MIGHT have had me. But now that I have Wicked Lulu from a recent sale? Yeah, totally not spending that.

ReplyDeleteI'm surprised nobody mentioned the face. I actually quite like mostly everything about this skin... Except that horrible human-like skin tone and face. It puts her right into the uncanny valley - not a place you want to be if you're a super deformed character (proportion wise).
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry riot, I honestly hope you feel kinda bad about this skin so that you can produce better skins that corrispond to what the community wants. I loved the idea and the splash art was amazing, but it doesn't look like that. And saying it has some of the best particle effects in the game! O.o wow its barely even a recolor.
