Hello there S@20ians, I just wanted to stop by and toss everyone a heads up on some of the new gizmos and links floating around S@20 in the past few months.
Continue reading for review of some of the new features that have been added to S@20 since we rolled out our
fancy new look.
Stream Links
The first of the new features is a set of links to both
Moobeat and
Seranaya's streams. When one of our streams are up, the little button will flick from
grey to
orange and you can click it to jump to one of our streams. We do all sorts of stuff over there, including normal games, community ARAM, and the occasional set of ranked games.
Top Posts
This little widget will pump out the three stories, from the past week, with the most traffic. This will help anyone who coming late to the party to jump into the most exciting or popular posts of the week.
Anon Commenting
As I'm sure you've noticed, I disabled anonymous user commenting about a month ago due to a tidal wave of racist and derogatory comments, as well as spam links. Commenting now requires a Gmail, Aim, LiveJournal, Wordpress or Blogger account and I sincerely apologize to the few anon's who constantly provided constructive feedback in the comments and positive conversation. This has reduced the sites non unique page views by about 10% and more than halved the amount of comments but it has also taken a lot of pressure off of Seranaya, FrostyNinja, and myself as we no longer have to delete hundreds of comments a day.
In the future we are hoping to integrate facebook and twitter commenting into the site, so hopefully that makes things a little easier for those who don't want to sign up for an account to comment with.
Youtube Channel
Lastly we have a handy link to our most recent endeavor, the
S@20 youtube channel. Currently I've been supplementing my PBE posts with various videos but I hope to devote more time to other video content in the near future. Just like the social media links, I'd really appreciate it if you could take the time to subscribe to the channel. Similarly, it would be awesome if you could check out
FrostyNinja's personal YT channel as he dedicates a lot of time to it just as he does to this site!

ReplyDeleteHey man, I love what you are doing with the site and I think its because of you that I can't get on the PBE cause you've made it famous. Takes forever to get on there now more like a 30 min wait. But all and all thanks for always keeping us up to date on the latest LoL happenings. Keep up the good work. See you in game... Peace

ReplyDeleteNot sure if you read the post but that wasn't the problem. I don't really care about firsts or whatever, I care about the insulting comments and malicious links that were being spammed all over the site.

The removal of anon commenting on this site is in my opinion a great move. People tend to act like idiots when hiding behind the armour granted to them by the internet, and while people will continue to be racist, bigots and their ilk at least now their posts come with a name, which can be blocked from the site. Will this remove all idiotic comments from S@20? Of course not but it makes Moobeats job easier, and gives him more time to concentrate on getting us information faster, which is why I personally come back to S@20 again and again. The speed of service and the accuracy of the information, and if disabling anon commenting enhances the performance of the site, good riddance.
ReplyDeleteMore shitty comments I have to delete because people are childish / malicious = less time to work on the site. I used to delete anywhere from 100-150 comments a day that were just insanely inappropriate. The firsts were never my concern, you can't stop that kind of stuff, but I was concerned about how much time I had to spend and how many emails I had to answer from people wondering why the comment section was so insulting.
