With the online ladder completing a few days ago, we are nearing the first big event of the S3 Path to Pro series: The Online Qualifier!

This event will run from January 4-5 and feature the top 32 qualifying teams from the North American Ladder and top 16 Team from EUW/EUNE battling it out for a spot in the next event, edging them one stop closer to earning one of the remaining spots  in the S3 Championship Series! For a bracket of the qualified NA teams, follow this link. For a bracket of the qualified EU teams, follow this link.

Unfortunately, none of these qualifier matches will be shout casted by Riot but several Rioters will be doing "directed camera" ( i.e them moving the camera around, spectating the match ) steams.

Here is Magnus, an eSports manager, with some details on the upcoming online qualifier and the following events next week.
"Hey all,

For the online tournament coming up on January 4th and 5th, Riot organizers (Tiza, Janook, Rara, Phreak, and more) will provide directed camera streams of as many of these matches as we can. These online qualifying matches will not be casted by Riot, but any casters who would like to rebroadcast the matches should feel free to do so.

We’ll be streaming the January 11th North American Qualifiers and January 25th EU Qualifiers in full force.

Stay tuned for details. Best of luck to the teams competing in the online tournament."
Once the event starts, the previously mentioned streams will be available HERE.

Edit: Magnus has added more information into his previous post. Continue reading for schedules, format, etc.

"This Friday and Saturday, the highest-ranked teams in NA and EU will compete online for the chance to earn a spot as a League of Legends Championship Series professional team.

In each region, the top 32 teams from the ranked team 5v5 ladder will play in online tournaments. The top eight teams from the online tournaments in each region will then advance to the qualifiers. The North American qualifier will be held in Los Angeles from January 11-13 and the European qualifier in Warsaw, Poland from January 25-27. The top five from each of qualifier will become professional teams in the League of Legends Championship Series.

To see which European teams will make it to Warsaw and which North American teams will earn their slot in Los Angeles, check out the matches on the following Rioters’ live-streams:

  7. Why is NA getting 32 teams to compete, and EU NE/W only 16?
As far as i know, Mobas are a lot bigger in Europe than America.
