This is more than just a tourney, more than a mere event, some mortals fail to get what this is really about, they can only see the prizes at the end of the road (Cough* And that awesome Triumphant Ryze skin courtesy of Riot). But this is not about that dead end, is not about a win, or a loss.
Is about looking into fear's faceless smile, and feel that rush of courage overwhelming your inner demons...
The idea of Ionia 2013 came the desire to deliver not a tourney, not just a bunch of RP, not just some shoutouts. But an experience, a whole new experience to feel and embrace, a moment you may remember in the future as something just, epic, a memory you can save in your precious vault of invaluable moments. We wanted to aesthetically deliver an experience, an ambiance, that would make you feel like you're sailing into a big adventure, a once in a lifetime adventure, where you could demonstrate what you and your fearsome team is made of.
That's the reason we chose Ionia to represent this moment. A distant and mysterious island, far away in the great Guardian's Sea. Full of tales no man can bare, and some other tales, yet to be written. We want to give you the chance to write your own tale, to sail into adventure and change the course of your destiny to where greatness, honor, and prowess lies. To engage in a massive battle, not for a 1st place, but for glory.
