LCS Changes in 2014 Season
To kick things off, Riot has announced several changes coming to the LCS in the 2014 season, including the swapping of dates for each regions play and new start times!"The 2014 season features a number of changes that we wanted to make everyone aware of.
EU LCS & NA LCS Swap Days
To better accommodate international fans, the EU LCS is moving to Thursday and Friday while the NA LCS is moving to Saturday and Sunday. Time are also changing. The NA LCS will begin at 12:00PM (Noon) PST / 21:00 CET each day, while the EU LCS will begin at 10:00AM PST / 17:00 CET.
During Super Week, the EU LCS will play Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, while the NA LCS will play Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
This will make it easier for European players to watch the NA LCS as well as increasing the visibility of the EU LCS for North American players.
LCS Spring Split is 11 weeks long
The LCS has changed to an 11 week split during the Spring. It will still have two Super Weeks, one at the beginning and one at the end of the split. We also aim to have one week of matches played at a road show for each split of the EU and NA LCS.
Schedule
- Thursday - EU LCS - 10:00AM PST / 17:00 CET
- Friday - EU LCS - 10:00AM PST / 17:00 CET

Evil Genuises Coming to America
It looks like Evil Geniuses is moving to America! The new, NA based team consists of three members from the original EG/CLG EU roster (Snoopeh, Yellowpete, Krepo) alongside Pobelter and Innox. The announcement can be found over on EG's site but it doesn't have a lot of information. More should be available tomorrow.
Over on reddit, RiotChopper confirmed that Velocity eSports is re-branding and will be competing for a spot in NA LCS as Evil Genuises:
"Great question, glad to clear it up. Alliance is taking over the EG spot in EU, and will face off against Dignitas in Battle of the Atlantic, and is qualified for the EU LCS based on the performance of that squad during the Summer Split. Velocity will be rebranding itself as Evil Geniuses, has picked up Snoopeh, Krepo, and Yellowpete, and will still compete in a Promotion Match against an amateur team to earn their spot in the NA LCS."
A New Alliance in Europe
Essentially taking over the LCS spot left from the vacated Evil Geniuses in Europe, Alliance consists of the two remaining members from EG and three new members. Full roster is below:
The full announcement can be found below or on Alliance's website.
"Alliance storms the Fields of Justice.
Stockholm, Sweden – December 10, 2013. - Alliance, one of the world's fastest-growing professional eSports organizations, is excited to announce its new League of Legends division, which will compete in the European LCS after acquiring its spot from Evil Geniuses.
Snowballing their current success in both Dota 2 and StarCraft II, Alliance will be home to some of the most sought-after professional League of Legends players in Europe. The starting lineup includes Wickd, the former-EG top laner; Froggen, lauded as one of the best mid-laners in the world and Chronicle's Player of the Year 2012; ex-Copenhagen Wolves jungler Shook; and the world-class bottom laners Tabzz and Kazmitch.
Wickd and Froggen both achieved 1st place at DreamHack Summer 2012, boast a top four finish at the Season 2 World Championship, and finished 4th in the EU LCS in 2013 with Evil Geniuses. Shook, while playing for Copenhagen Wolves, scored numerous first-place finishes, including the Dreamhack Summer 2013 Amateur tournament, with his aggressive and precise ganking style. Tabzz joins the roster after his impressive season with the Lemondogs: first place in the EU LCS Summer Season, second place during the EU LCS Season 3 Summer Playoffs, and a spot at the most watched eSports event ever, the Season 3 World Championship at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. In the first trans-atlantic tournament ever, Kazmitch looks to test his skills and earn a permanent place on the roster on biggest stage before the start of the new season.
"I am honored to join Alliance with Shook, Tabzz, and Wickd," said Henrik "Froggen" Hansen, Mid Laner for Alliance's League of Legends division. "Alliance is a great organization with a very successful history, especially in Dota 2. We will look to be a top team in to EU LCS, and ultimately our goal is to qualify for the Season 4 World Championships. The first mission, though, is to win against Dignitas in the Battle of the Atlantic this weekend. I am looking forward to playing with my new teammates as we try out Kazmitch and show the world what we can do."
Alliance's new squad will debut against Team Dignitas this upcoming weekend in the Battle of the Atlantic. Soon after, they will take part in the European LCS for the 2014 season.
You can watch Alliance LoL storm onto Summoner's Rift for the first time on Saturday, December 14th, 9 am PST / 18:00 CET at lolesports.com."
