This Week in Esports [AUGUST 10TH - AUGUST 16TH]

With the EU & NA Summer Playoffs semifinals wrapped up, teams prepare for the finals next weekend. We're back with another edition of This Week in eSports!

Current Standings:

 The NA & EU Summer Split semifinals came to a finish this weekend, and with this, the finalists from each NA & EU move forward to the Finals next weekend! The brackets below are updated as of Sunday, August 17th and as always, VODs can be found here.

[NA] LCS:

  • Counter Logic Gaming defeated Team Impulse with a record of 3 - 0. Counter Logic Gaming moves on to Finals to face TSM on Sunday, August 23rd.
  • Team Solomid defeated Team Liquid with a record of 3-1. Team Solomid moves on to the Finals to face CLG on Sunday, August 23rd.
  • TSM is now guaranteed a spot at Worlds due to championship points. 
  • Team Impulse and Team Liquid will face off for 3rd place on Saturday, August 22nd. 

          [EU] LCS:

          • The semifinals stage of the 2015 EU Summer Playoffs also concluded this weekend.
          • Fnatic defeated UOL with a record of 3 - 0. Fnatic moves on to the Finals to face Origen on Sunday, August 23rd. 
          • Fnatic is now guaranteed a spot at Worlds due to championship points. 
          • Origen defeated H2K with a record of 3 - 1. Origen moves on to the finals to face Fnatic on Sunday, August 23rd. 
          •  UOL and H2K will face off for 3rd place on Saturday, August 22nd.

              [NA/EU] Challenger Series
              • The 2015 Challenger Series summer playoffs concluded earlier this week! Congratulations to Renegades and Team Dignitas EU, welcome to the LCS!  
              [NA]:
              • Renegades defeated Team Coast with a record of 3 - 2, claiming their spot in the NA LCS next split! 
              • Team Imagine defeated Cloud9 Tempest with a record of 2 - 0, claiming 3rd place.
              • Team Coast and Team Imagine will continue on to the 2016 NA LCS Spring Promotion tournament where they will play off against Enemy and Team 8 for a spot in the 2016 NA LCS Spring season.
              [EU]:
              • Team Dignitas EU defeated Mousesports with a record of 3 - 2, claiming their spot in the EU LCS next split! 
                • Gamers2 defeated Denial Esports with a record of 2 - 0, claiming 3rd place. 
                • Gamers2 and Mousesports will move on to  the  2016 EU LCS Spring Promotion tournament where they will play against Gambit and SK Gaming for a spot in the 2016 EU LCS Spring season.

                    [Korea] LCK:
                    • The LCK summer playoffs are currently underway, earlier this week KOO Tigers defeated Najin e-mFire with a record of 2 - 1 in the first round.


                    [TW/HK/MO] LMS:
                    • The regional finals wrapped up over the weekends with Flash Wolves taking  first after a 3-2 series against HKES. Following this victory, Flash Wolves are now qualified for a spot in the 2015 World Championship.


                    [China] LPL:
                    • The LPL summer playoffs are also still underway. Qiao Gu and LGD Gaming will be facing off in the finals on Sunday, August 23rd.
                    • LGD Gaming has also already qualified for one of China's 3 2015 World Championship spots via championship points.


                    2015 International Wildcard Tournament

                    With all these regional leagues finishing up, here's a look at who is currently qualified for the 2015 International Wildcard Tournament:

                    Qualifier 1:

                    • CIS - Hard Random
                    • Brazil - paiN Gaming
                    • Latin America - Kaos Latin Gamers


                    Qualifier 2:

                    • SEA - Bangkok Titans
                    • Turkey - Dark Passage
                    • Japan - DetonatioN FocusMe
                    • Oceania - The Chiefs eSports Club

                    The top two teams coming out of the 2015 International Wildcard Tournament will move on to participate in the 2015 World Championship.

                    • TL;DR: "Xian “XiaoWeiXiao” Yu Elo boosted one account, was in talks to boost further accounts, and was also negotiating the sale of an unlocked account granted to LCS pros. As a result of these actions, he is ineligible for competitive play in any Riot-affiliated League of Legends competition until February 2016."
